Privacy policy.

Who we are.

This policy is issued by Marketplace Distributors LLC ("Novastart", "we", "us"), 319 36th St., Manhattan Beach, CA 90266, United States. It covers novastart.com and its subpages (the "site"), the Novastart app and Novastart OS (the "software"), and the emails we send. Questions about it go to support@novastart.com.

What we collect.

Information you give us. When you send a question, we collect your name, your email address and the question. When you subscribe to the blog, we collect your email address. When you create an account in the software or buy a plan, we collect the email address you sign up with, your plan, and the billing details our payment provider needs; card numbers go to the payment provider and are not stored by us. When you write to support, we keep the correspondence.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the site records technical data about each visit: the page you came from, the page you are on, the address of the network you connect from, your browser and device type, the time of the visit, and any campaign codes in the link you followed. We use cookies and similar technologies, described below, to recognise your browser across visits.

Information from the software. The software keeps your canvases, folders, apps and their positions on your own machine. Canvas contents do not leave your machine unless you share a canvas, and a shared canvas streams directly from your machine to the people you invite. The software checks for and installs updates, which tells our update service the address of your network and the version you run. If you use AI agents, the screenshots and instructions an agent needs to do its job are sent to the model provider, OpenAI, to run the agent; a log of each run (steps, clicks and screenshots) is kept on your machine so you can audit it. If you use the app that runs Novastart in a window, the same applies inside that window.

Information from others. We may receive information about you from advertising and analytics partners, such as which of our ads you saw or clicked, and from public sources, to keep our records accurate and our marketing relevant.

Cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use, or may use, four kinds:

• Necessary. Settings the site needs to work, such as whether you turned the canvas off. The site stores that preference in your browser today.
• Analytics. Tools that tell us which pages are visited, for how long and from where, so we can improve the site.
• Advertising. Tags from advertising networks that let us show you Novastart ads on other sites after you visit ours (retargeting), measure whether our ads work, and reach people like our visitors. These partners may combine what they see here with what they know from other sites.
• Email. Pixels in the emails we send that tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.

You can control cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out of the sharing of your information for targeted advertising. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting analytics or advertising cookies, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

How we use information.

• To answer your questions, provide support, and send the emails you asked for.
• To provide, secure, update and improve the site and the software, and to understand how they are used.
• To run our business: accounts, plans, billing, fraud prevention and record keeping.
• To market Novastart: to send you news and offers, to measure our marketing, and to show you relevant ads on other sites and services, including through retargeting. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time with the link in each email or by writing to us.
• To comply with the law and to enforce our terms.

Where European or UK data protection law applies, we rely on the performance of a contract (accounts, plans, support), our legitimate interests (running, securing and marketing the business), your consent (analytics and advertising cookies, marketing emails where consent is required) and our legal obligations.

How we share information.

• Service providers that host the site, store our data, deliver downloads, send our emails, process payments and provide analytics, working under our instructions. Today these include Cloudflare (hosting), Google (the spreadsheet that holds questions and subscriptions) and Supabase (download storage).
• Search engines on the Try it out page. A search you type into the simulated browser on that page goes from your browser straight to Google, or to Bing if you choose it, which receives the search and your IP address under its own privacy policy. We do not see your searches and the page sends no referrer with them.
• Advertising partners that place and measure our ads, as described under cookies. Under California law this can count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising; see your rights below.
• The AI model provider, OpenAI, when you run an agent, as described above.
• People you share with. When you share a canvas, the people you invite can see it and, if you make them editors, act in it.
• Legal and corporate. When the law requires it, to protect our rights and safety or yours, and in a merger, sale or reorganisation of our business.

We do not sell personal information for money.

Your choices and rights.

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to give you a copy, or to stop using it in a particular way, and you can object to or restrict some uses. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. Write to support@novastart.com; we will verify the request and answer within the time the law allows. You may appoint someone to act for you. We will not treat you differently for exercising a right.

California residents have the right to know, correct and delete their personal information, to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To opt out of sharing, email us at the address above or turn on the Global Privacy Control signal in your browser. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information on the site.

Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland have the rights listed above under their data protection laws and may complain to their supervisory authority. Your information may be processed in the United States, which has different privacy laws from your country; where we transfer it, we use safeguards recognised by those laws, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep information.

Questions and support correspondence are kept for as long as we need them to help you and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. Subscription addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Account and billing records are kept for as long as you have an account and as long as tax and accounting rules require after that. Technical and marketing data is kept for as long as it is useful for the purposes above, then deleted or made anonymous.

Security.

We protect personal information with technical and organisational measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections and limited access. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Children.

The site and the software are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy.

We may update this policy as the site, the software or the law changes. The effective date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site or by email.
