Infinite Canvas
See all your work at once.
Every app, a window on one infinite canvas. Nothing stacks. Zoom out to plan, zoom in to work.
Side by side
A normal desktop hides your work.
Each window lands on the last one, and you dig for it. One weekend plan, two desktops.
Two short films play side by side. Four apps for one weekend: a budget sheet, a page of cabins, a calendar and a packing list open on a normal desktop, each covering the last, and on the infinite canvas, each landing beside the last. Open the budget: the desktop brings the sheet forward and hides the rest; the canvas zooms toward it with the rest still in view. Check the cabin price: on the desktop the cabins page covers the sheet; on the canvas the view steps out until the sheet and the cabins sit side by side. Put it in the sheet: on the desktop the sheet comes back and hides the cabins; on the canvas both stay in view while the totals update. Now look at the whole weekend: the desktop needs two more clicks and still shows one window; the canvas shows all four with one click. The films then start over.

Zoom
The plan grows, the board widens.
By Thursday the trip is nine apps. Stacked, you see one. This board holds them all, running.
An interactive board with nine apps in a three by three grid: the trip budget, the cabins, the calendar, the packing list, a map, the weather, the car rental, the lift tickets and last year's photos. Click the board and the wheel zooms from 5 to 1000 percent toward the pointer; the apps stay live and crisp at every level.
Arrange
One flick keeps it tidy.
You drag a corner, miss, give up. On the canvas a window is something you pick up, and five moves do the rest.
A twelve-second loop. The packing list is dragged toward the weather page; blue guides flash and it snaps flush beside it. A box is dragged around all three windows; they get a selection ring and a small row of actions appears. Align top puts them on one line. Pack grid pulls them into a flush grid. The pointer hovers the cabins page, an Arrow key is pressed, and a second cabins page lands beside the first on the same listing. Five moves under the frame light up in step.
- 01
Drag, it snaps.
Pull the list near the weather. Edges snap within 10 px.
- 02
Grab three.
Box-select or Ctrl-click three windows and they move as one.
- 03
Line them up.
Align or distribute them. Corners snap to presets, 800 to 2400.
- 04
Pack the grid.
Pick a grid and they pack in flush, no gaps.
- 05
Open a twin.
Hover, press an Arrow. A twin lands beside it, same page.
Memory
This desktop remembers for you.
You close the packing list by mistake, and it is gone. The desktop itself has undo, so it comes back where it was.
An interactive board with six apps: the trip budget, the cabins, the calendar, the packing list, cabin notes and last year's photos. A slider under it steps back through eight recorded actions, from opening the cabin notes to closing the packing list: each step is undone on the board and named, and dragging forward redoes it.
- 100Undo steps on every canvas.
- All of it, undoable.Moves, resizes, closed apps, even followed links.
- As you left it.Apps, positions and Chrome URLs, all restored.
Save a workspace as one .novastart file and share it.
Organize
Give each thing its own room.
By Sunday the wedding sits under the tax return, under work. Four workspaces, apps back where you left them.
A slowly drifting map of four workspaces: the wedding, home, an apartment search and work. Each is a two by two cluster of running apps under a large label with a grey subtitle. Dragging pans the map.
- The wedding Venue, guests, playlist
- Home Trip, bills, taxes
- Apartment search Listings, viewings, commute
- Work Mail, docs, numbers
Workspace, Folder, Canvas. The trip: one canvas, in a folder, in Home.
Your apps
Switch desktops, keep your web apps.
Switching feels like starting over. It is not: the sheet, the cabins, the calendar and the list open here too.
37 web apps, one window each.
- What about apps not on the wall?
- Any site opens in bundled Chrome. ONLYOFFICE, Linux and X11 apps too.
- Do I have to wipe my computer?
- No. Windows 10/11 and Intel Macs run it in a window. Ubuntu, a package.
- What does that window need?
- 8 GB of RAM, about 32 GB of disk, hardware virtualization turned on.
- Does my canvas go to a server?
- No. Private by default: the canvas stays on your machine until shared.

Nothing to give up
Keep your files. Keep your apps.
Novastart isn't a new set of apps to learn. It's a better way to use them.
Works with the apps you already use. No plugins, no imports.
Your apps, not copies
Gmail, Excel, WhatsApp, Notion and thirty more open as real windows, signed in as you.
Try it on the computer you have
An app for Windows and Mac runs the whole thing in a window. Like it? Install it on any PC, or add it to your Ubuntu desktop.
Private by default
Nothing leaves your machine until you share a canvas. Only the people you invite can see it.
- Will it slow my laptop down?
- It draws the screen itself, so forty windows zoom like one.
- What if I close something by mistake?
- Undo it. A hundred steps per canvas, even closing an app.
- Can I go back to my old desktop?
- Yes. The Windows and Mac app sits alongside it; the Ubuntu package leaves your desktop in place.
- Where does my data live?
- On your machine. Sharing streams window to window, with no server in the middle.
Agents run on OpenAI's computer-use models with your own OpenAI API key. Developers get an open SDK in Python, JavaScript and Rust.
